Virginia House of Delegates Honors PGA of America Golf Professional Lynne Hunter With a Proclamation Celebrating the First Woman President of the Middle Atlantic PGA

Stafford, Va. … (September 26, 2024) – The Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA of America (MAPGA) today announced that the Virginia House of Delegates has honored Herndon, Va. resident, and PGA of America Golf Professional, Lynne Hunter with a proclamation celebrating her election as the first woman President in its nearly 100-year history.
Hunter, who serves as the Director of Golf at Kenwood Golf & Country Club, in Bethesda, Md., was elected the MAPGA’s 51st President in 2023, and she is currently serving a two-year term as the helm of a PGA Section that consists of over 1,100 PGA of America members and apprentices in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia and small portions of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, who manage the game and business of golf for over 900,000 participants who play more than 16.5 million rounds of golf each year.

A PGA of America Member since 2007, Hunter is a graduate of James Madison University, where she earned a BS in Business Administration. Her first golf related job was an intern in the accounting department at TPC Avenel, in Potomac, MD. In 1997, she became a golf professional and joined the staff at Kenwood Country Club, eventually earning the position of Head Professional in 2012. A dual member of the PGA and LPGA, Hunter has earned numerous awards and accomplishments, including 2010 LPGA Northeast Section Golf Professional of the Year; named a U.S. Kids Top 50 Junior Golf Instructor in 2008, 2010 and 2011; 2006 Kenwood Golf and Country Club Jack Weber Award Winner; and the Titleist Performance Institute certified golf fitness instructor status.
As a MAPGA Member, Hunter has made significant contributions mentoring fellow PGA Professionals, especially in the area of employment and club relations. For her never-ending dedication to her fellow PGA members and LPGA members, and unwavering commitment to her community, she was awarded the MAPGA’s prestigious Bill Strausbaugh Award in 2019.
