MAPGA Junior Tour Alum Michael Brennan Makes His Masters Debut

The 24-year-old from Leesburg, Virginia tied for 24th in his first start at Augusta National, the latest chapter in a run that began on the MAPGA Junior Golf Tour

Earlier this month, Michael Brennan of Leesburg, Virginia teed it up in his first Masters Tournament at Augusta National. Brennan made the cut and finished at 2-under 286, placing him in a tie for 24th in his Masters debut.

He grew up playing at River Creek Club in Leesburg, and during his junior golf days, Brennan was a member of and played on the MAPGA Junior Golf Tour. He racked up quite a few titles throughout his junior golf career as well. He was named the 2017 VSGA Junior Boys’ Golfer of the Year, and that same summer, at 15, he became the youngest player ever to win the Middle Atlantic Amateur. He won the Middle Atlantic Amateur again in 2018 and 2019, took the 2019 VSGA Amateur at Keswick Hall, and won back-to-back Virginia High School Individual State Championships in 2019 and 2020. Then went on to play collegiately at Wake Forest University.

From Wake Forest to the PGA TOUR

Brennan played four years at Wake Forest, where he won eight individual titles and earned medalist honors at the ACC Championship in both 2023 and 2024. After turning professional in 2024, he led the PGA TOUR Americas point list in 2025 with three wins and secured a promotion to the Korn Ferry Tour.

In October 2025, Brennan used a sponsor exemption at the Bank of Utah Championship (PGA Tour) and closed with a 66 to win by four over Rico Hoey. The win earned him immediate PGA TOUR membership and made him the first player since Jim Benepe at the 1988 Western Open to win in his first start as a professional on TOUR. Seven months later, he was walking up the 18th fairway at Augusta.

The Coach Beside Him the Whole Way

Brennan has worked with the same coach since he was 12 years old: Adam Harrell, PGA, Lead Teaching Professional at 1757 Golf Club in Dulles. Harrell focuses on aspiring junior golfers (ages 10-15) who desire to play collegiate golf, and on golfers with a handicap less than 25 who are looking to become scratch golfers.
