The inaugural Dolan Cup took place on Saturday November 2nd, 2024 at Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, Md. The event consisted of 8 of our Maryland MAPGA Professionals who competed against 8 MSGA amateurs in a match play format. Four-ball matches were played during the morning session, and Singles matches were played during the afternoon session.

The event is named after Columbia Country Club’s Professional Emeritus, Robert (Bob) Dolan Jr., PGA, who has been a fixture in Maryland golf for over 30 years and is a member of both the MAPGA and PGA Hall of Fame.

Team MSGA was victorious in the afternoon Singles matches though. During the afternoon session they racked up 4.50 points in comparison to Team MAPGA-Maryland’s 3.50. Team MAPGA-Maryland fell just short, losing the cup by only one point. Team MSGA was victorious with a final score of 6.5 to 5.5 over our Maryland Professionals.

“I am thrilled to be honored by two organizations that have meant so much to me throughout my career,” said Bob Dolan, PGA. “These organizations do so much for the game, and I hope this event inspires players from both the MAPGA and the MSGA.”

Future matches will take place on even years, opposite the Middle Atlantic-GAP Mason-Dixon Matches.
