Sterling, VA – After being cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, MAPGA Professionals were ready for the MAPGA Scramble to return. This team event is one of the favorites among players and always draws a big field. The two-person teams played 27 holes to see who would become the 2021 Britt Sloan MAPGA Scramble Champions.

Joanna Coe and Pat Coyner of Balitmore CC are quite familiar with each other’s games as co-workers, and they played together a few weeks ago in the Northern Chapter Pro-Pro where they finished 2nd. They used this experience to their advantage, making 17 birdies in the scramble format over 27 holes. However, that was not enough to win in regulation as two additional teams of Larkin Gross (Springfield) & Travis Johnson (Kinloch) and Josh Speight (PGA Member) & Billy Hoffman (Westwood) also finished at 17-under.

A playoff was needed to settle the tie at the top. Each team had makeable birdie tries on the first playoff hole but Pat Coyner was the only one able to make the putt to give his team the victory. Congratulations to Pat and Joanna Coe for their win!

We would also like to thank Britt Sloan for being the title sponsor and helping to make this event a success.  Britt has stayed with this event through several weather postponements and a COVID cancellation, and finally had a beautiful day and a great field!
