Today, we honor Hank Majewski, PGA, our 33rd Section President and a true champion of junior golf. From his humble beginnings as a 10-year-old caddie in 1940s Baltimore to becoming the Head PGA Professional at Hobbit's Glen Golf Club, Hank transformed facilities and selflessly promoted junior ...golf. His determination was perhaps best demonstrated in 1981 when he successfully campaigned to reinstate Howard County's high school golf program after it had been cut. Now, the “Hank Majewski Scholarship” awards one scholarship a year to a graduating high school student as a way to honor his memory and his legacy promoting junior golf achievement. The MAPGA Junior Golf Tour has also named a tournament in his honor.

Serving the MAPGA as Treasurer, Vice President, and President (1984-1989), Hank's leadership elevated our Section and the game itself. His many accolades, including 1988 MAPGA Professional of the Year and 1988 National PGA Professional of the Year, culminated in his 2005 induction into the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame. As we celebrate our Centennial, we salute Hank Majewski as his dedication to the game continues to inspire us today. #mapga100

As part of our Centennial celebration, today we are saluting James H. Folks, PGA, who served as the MAPGA's 32nd president! Jim's golf journey began at age 12, where he excelled as a local and state junior champion before turning professional in 1964. After serving as an assistant at ...Ocala Golf Course, Congressional Country Club, and Burning Tree Club, Jim became the Head PGA Professional at Bethesda Country Club on January 1, 1972—a position he held until his retirement in 2010.

Jim was deeply involved with The PGA throughout his career, serving in multiple leadership roles including MAPGA Regional Vice President, Club Relations Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and ultimately President from 1986–1987. During his presidency, he made significant contributions: pioneering the area employment representatives concept, gathering statistical compensation data for member employment negotiations, establishing the first MAPGA branch office in Richmond, Virginia, and co-founding the MAPGA Hall of Fame in 1987. Jim also played a key role in bringing women's professional golf to Bethesda, including the MAZDA LPGA Championship, which in 1990 hosted the LPGA Tour's first $1,000,000 tournament purse. His dedication to the game and the association earned him numerous accolades, including the MAPGA Professional of the Year in 1987 and induction into the Hall of Fame in 2010! #mapga100
