Touma Wins Senior, Corliss Wins Quarter-Century

Ricky Touma won his second consecutive MAPGA Senior Championship after a playoff Tuesday in the rain at Army Navy Country Club-Arlington.

The weather forced the final day of competition to play only nine holes but, Touma, of Burning Tree Club, finished the tournament at 1-under and secured the Championship following a two-hole playoff against Dirk Schultz. An errant chip resulted in Schultz carding a bogey while Touma two-putted for par. Touma and Schultz were the only players to be under par on Tuesday.

In the first round, Touma trailed leaders Jon Corliss and Rick Schuller by one stroke, shooting an even-70. he was able to make the difference in just nine holes of play.

The MAPGA Senior Championship acts as the qualifier for the Senior PGA Professional National Championship played in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Touma, Schultz, Corliss, Tim Lewis, Wayne DeFrancesco and Glenn McCloskey will represent the MAPGA at the event. Jim Estes and Schuller have exemptions.

Played in conjunction with the MAPGA Senior Championship was the MAPGA Quarter-Century Championship, which Jon Corliss led the field with a 2-over-109. He defeated Lewis by two strokes.
