Dear MAPGA Professionals,

These are obviously very turbulent times in our country and particularly in our industry. On Tuesday, the State of Maryland closed down all non-essential businesses, including golf courses.  On the same day, the Commonwealth of Virginia decided that outdoor recreation like golf courses could remain open.  Many of you as independent contractors, teachers, or retailers have had your work interrupted as well.  And without a crystal ball, we don’t when any of this will change.  We don’t have any schedule updates for you at this time.

What we want to focus on in this letter is the fraternal side of our organization.  Please reach out to your PGA brothers and sisters.  Just a call, text or email to check on your peers and coworkers.  We have been trying to do that from the Board and staff as much as possible.  We are extremely sensitive that this crisis has affected you all in many different ways, from your employment to your personal and educational lives. Also, please feel free to reach out to either of us, any Board member, District Director John Madden, our Career Consultant Greg Stenzel.  We all care for you, empathize with the situation and would be happy to talk.

Some of our teaching professionals have volunteered to provide some online seminars (stay tuned for those emails) to our younger professionals so that, if not working, they can be improving their skills.  On that note, we have compiled a listing of education opportunities on our website (https://mapga.com/education-opportunites/) should you find yourself with some extra time, as well as some helpful home-schooling sites for those of you home with children.  We will eventually populate this site with some online education from our various MAPGA vendors as well, so that, if you desire, you can be up to speed on their products when golf shops eventually open.

We are all in this together.  We will get through this, and golf will be a great outlet for those who have been sheltered in place.  Let’s help each other as best we can.

Sincerely,

Josh Tremblay, PGA                                                                      Jon Guhl
