Tony Marlowe Scholarship Recipients
David Stephens III, Northwestern University
David is a Freshman at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois this year. While currently working on a double major in physics and music, he loves college and the opportunities surrounding the university.
David is also a part of Northwestern’s Ice Hockey team and will be playing on Northwestern’s club golf team this spring. His presence on and off the floor is noticed by peers and relatives. His activeness during his Junior Golf says helped him develop character, perseverance, and mutual respect for competitors. As he continues to grow in the knowledge of golf and his major, he thanks the Marlow Scholarship to help fuel and support his dreams and further his education. His personal statement is below.
“The Marlowe scholarship helped to make this possible for me. It has been a great honor to be selected for this award. Through MAPGA Junior Golf and high school golf I learned about hard work, dedication, focus, and good sportsmanship. These lessons continue to help me in all aspects of my life.”

Megan Schlesinger, McDaniel College
Megan is a Junior at McDaniel College in Westminster MD. Her major is Chemistry Kinesiology with a Biology minor in pursuits of acceptance to Medical School in the future.
She is heavily involved in her campus activities outside of sports as the Vice President of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, member of two honors societies and Kinesiology Club, President of Love Your Melon, including being a member of the women’s golf team. Megan’s skills were tested but never outdone as she finished 5th in her conference this past spring season and also received First Team All Conference, All Conference Honors, and Athlete of the Week. She is thankful for the opportunity to play in the Junior league and to have continual success with her collegiate team. The fall season she was inactive recovering from a broken foot but will be back in action this Spring.
“I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for the scholarship I was awarded. I was so blessed to be chosen and can’t wait to see where the future takes me! Thank you so much!”

Eli Newman, Virginia Tech University
Eli is currently a sophomore at Virginia Tech with his Major in Accounting and Finance. He is an active member on the VT club golf team and loves every moment. For him its an opportunity to compete against other colleges with competitive players without the crucial time commitments. Eli’s club team finished 3rd in the nation last fall at Nationals in Las Vegas. Aside from golf, his favorite hobbies consist of going to VT’s football games, basketball games and quality time fishing.
