Our female junior golfer that was selected for the month of June is Rachel Lee! Rachel is a new member to the golf community, joining the sport in 2017. In just these past two years, Rachel has had the opportunity to see all of the great opportunities and lessons that golf can give. She has come to appreciate the game greatly because it has taught her to be more courteous, sociable, and passionate. When asked what the game of golf meant to her, she said “the game of golf always teaches me to control my emotions, to stay calm, and to think about my options for solutions.” She uses this valuable lesson when facing any challenges that may come her way. One of her favorite things about golf is getting to learn from all of her peers. Rachel loves the idea of healthy competition and the encouragement to learn from each others strengths. In less than a year, she has learned to reduce 22 strokes, played in the IAAM Championship, achieved the Athlete of the Week on the Baltimore Sun, and received the IAAM Athlete of the Month. The Middle Atlantic PGA is very proud of the growth and development that Rachel Lee has evolved within the sport of golf and in her everyday life. We hope that her optimism and respectful attitude is inspiring to other young athletes as well!
The Middle Atlantic PGA is excited to announce the introduction of a new Junior Golf program aimed to highlight our outstanding junior golfers in the area! June-August, PGA REACH Middle Atlantic (our parent Foundation) will recognize two MAPGA juniors; ONE (1) BOY & GIRL; as the Junior Golfer of the Month. Each recipient will be one who possesses exceptional character while demonstrating the many values of Junior Golf.
Recipients will receive MAPGA branded gear in addition to receiving a credit into their player’s account valid for any one-day MAPGA Junior event (excluding two-days and invitationals). Recipients will be showcased in an exclusive article that will be shared to our MAPGA database, as well as to the recipient’s local news media.
