Middle Atlantic PGA Junior Golfer of the Month of June

Aaron Sorkin

Our male junior golfer that was selected for the month of June is Aaron Sorkin III! Aaron is an avid golfer who enjoys the game no matter what weather he is given. He practices every day, including the tough hours in winter months! He has been recognized for many awards over the years including 2018 Player of the Year for the MAPGA Junior Tour, Player of the Year honors for the Baltimore Junior Golf Tour, and many others. As a team member for the Westminster High School Golf team, he has helped lead the team to be Carroll County Champs two years in a row and assisted in the team qualifying for state for the first time in Westminster High School Golf Team history! In addition to his success, he has also learned many great values like perseverance and self-discipline. Golf is an activity that Aaron enjoys with his younger sisters and father who gives him great coaching and guidance. The Middle Atlantic PGA is pleased to see that Aaron is excelling in all facets of the sport of golf. He has achieved goals, inspired other players, and set a standard of excellence for his outlook and positive attitude both on and off the course.

Rachel Lee

Our female junior golfer that was selected for the month of June is Rachel Lee! Rachel is a new member to the golf community, joining the sport in 2017. In just these past two years, Rachel has had the opportunity to see all of the great opportunities and lessons that golf can give. She has come to appreciate the game greatly because it has taught her to be more courteous, sociable, and passionate. When asked what the game of golf meant to her, she said “the game of golf always teaches me to control my emotions, to stay calm, and to think about my options for solutions.” She uses this valuable lesson when facing any challenges that may come her way. One of her favorite things about golf is getting to learn from all of her peers. Rachel loves the idea of healthy competition and the encouragement to learn from each others strengths. In less than a year, she has learned to reduce 22 strokes, played in the IAAM Championship, achieved the Athlete of the Week on the Baltimore Sun, and received the IAAM Athlete of the Month. The Middle Atlantic PGA is very proud of the growth and development that Rachel Lee has evolved within the sport of golf and in her everyday life. We hope that her optimism and respectful attitude is inspiring to other young athletes as well!
