Frank Emmet Interclub
About DC Interclub
The Frank Emmet Junior Interclub League serves as an introduction to team golf for junior golfers in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Through a series of match play events, participants meet and play with fellow junior golfers as they gain the skills necessary to compete on interscholastic teams as well as in junior events throughout the region. Clubs participating in the league field a team of players that are looking to get a better feel for the enjoyment of competitive golf while playing many great courses they may not otherwise get to experience.
In 2016, Michael Thomas, PGA Head Professional from The Golf Club at South River will serve as commissioner of the Frank Emmet Junior Interclub. If you are thinking about joining and have questions about scheduling a host match, traveling, or fielding a team, please contact Michael and they will be happy to answer your questions. When selecting your host date, please take note of other junior events in the area as a lot of the juniors participating in Interclub also participate in other events. If you need assistance with scheduling, please feel free to contact your division representative.
Junior Interclub has two divisions: 18-hole and 9-hole. The 18-hole teams are comprised of six juniors and the 9-hole teams consist of four to six juniors ages 13 and under.
A host club’s responsibilities are to:
• Have enough juniors to always fill a team.
• Host at least one or as many as three matches per year depending on the scheduling format of your division.
• Provide lunch for teams and adult supervisors when hosting.
• 9-hole teams require an adult supervisor to be on property for each match.
• Report all results to your Division Commissioner in a timely fashion to ensure accurate standings are posted on the website.
Recently we have witnessed an increased number of forfeits and a difficulty with some clubs hosting a team. Thanks to the feedback from many of you, the division commissioners have determined that this is mainly due to the increased number of other events in the area.
Format Match Play
Club hosts one match with all teams in the division attending. The club will be responsible for hosting up to 36 players (more if hosting both 9 and 18 hole teams on the same day). The team will also have to travel up to 5 times for the away matches.
The Section staff will continue to handle the processing of all registration fees and the payment of all invoices related to this program. The staff will also continue to post Interclub results and standings on the MAPGA website when provided by the Division Commissioners.
*Dues are $100 for either a 9-hole or 18-hole team or $200 if your facility wishes to register both 9 and 18-hole teams.
*If you would like an application please contact Michael Thomas, PGA at 410-798-5865 or Bob Heintz at 540-720-7420 ext. 128
