We trust that you and your families are staying safe during these unprecedented times. As our golf courses reopen, our staff has been preparing for the start of our junior golf season. The MAPGA Junior Tour intends to fully comply with the Back2Golf Guidelines, which at minimum requires us to be in Phase 2 of the recovery program (we read that as All or at least a high % of the Section localities being in Phase 2).
Below are the major updates for both the 9-hole and 18-hole MAPGA Junior Tours:
- The 2020 Mini-Mulligans Tour has been CANCELLED* all registrations and memberships will be refunded* (because of the difficulty to run without caddies)
- The MAPGA Jr PGA Championship has been cancelled, because the national championship was cancelled. The event will still be played as a two-day open event eligible for POY points for each respected division
- Capital Cup Qualifying will now have (1) One additional state qualifier taking six (6) juniors from each qualifier, twelve in total (12) from MD and VA. Maryland qualifying sites are TBD, more information will come soon.
- Some facilities have felt uncomfortable accepting guest play, so they have been removed from the schedule. If you were registered for a canceled event, you will be credited.
*There will be NO Caddies permitted for all MAPGA Junior Tour events until further notice. This includes the Introductory Tour as well as all Major 2-day Invitational and Championship events.
All 2020 membership packages, tournament gifts, and awards will be distributed via mail.
Each player, parent and spectator are expected to follow our new Tournament Guidelines for 2020. The disregarding of any guidelines will subject any junior, spectator, and parent to immediate dismissal from the facility.
The MAPGA Junior Tour is committed to provide a safe and fun opportunity for all juniors to get out and play golf. Any questions regarding the new tournament updates and guidelines please contact Junior Golf Director Collin Elphic at Celphic@pgahq.com.
