Over the weekend of 8/25-8/26, 12 of the top PGA Jr. League All-Stars Teams flocked to the 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, VA for the Middle Atlantic PGA Section Championship. The 12 PGA Jr. League All-Star Teams were competing for two spots to advance to the advance to the Regional Championship at Raintree Country Club, Sept 29-30, where the two teams will compete against the two finalists from the Carolinas PGA Section. The four teams will be competing for a place in the PGA Junior League National Championship. Saturday consisted of aggregate stroke play from each team; six teams on the front nine holes and six on the back nine holes. From there, the top four teams advanced to the match play stage for the Semi-Finals and Finals on Sunday.
After Saturday’s round the four teams that advanced to the Semi-Finals was Michelle Holmes School of Golf, 1757 Golf Club, Roanoke Valley, and Country Club of Virginia. The first round of matches consisted of 1757 Golf Club vs. Roanoke Valley and Michelle Holmes School of Golf vs. Country Club of Virginia. Michelle Holmes School of Golf beat out Country Club of Virginia 9.5 – 2.5; and 1757 Golf Club beat Roanoke Valley 9 – 3. The victors of the Finals match were the team from 1757 Golf Club after defeating Michelle Holmes School of Golf, 8-4, to claim the Section title. Both 1757 Golf Club and Michelle Holmes School of Golf will represent the Middle Atlantic PGA in the Regional Championship at Raintree Country Club at the end of September.
