Billy Hurley III Jr. Championship Round 1

The Inaugural Billy Hurley III Junior Championship featured 57 of the MAPGA’s best juniors at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.

Round one of competition ended with Benjamin Kruper leading the Overall Boys Division with a 3-under-68. Amelia Root leads the Overall Girls Division with a 3-over 74.

Kruper had seven birdies on the day and 14 holes of par or better. Noah Reeder led the tournament with 15 holes of par or better. He is currently T-8 with a score of +2.

Following the first round, Billy Hurley III, a Maryland native and former MAPGA Junior Tour member, gave a clinic for the juniors and shared his extensive PGA Tour experience.

Hurley shared his short game expertise and answered many questions about life on tour.

Round two will begin tomorrow with tee times starting at 7:50 a.m.
