Schultz played it safe during day one of the championship, carding a 1-under-par, 71, making three birdies and two bogies. Shultz came back strong the second day, making nine birdies against one bogey during his second round to capture the win. He attributed his success on the course the second day to a tremendous short game, chipping and putting around the greens.
Schuller, runner-up, came out the first day with an astounding 3-under-par, 69, making six birdies against three bogies. He continued his run with one eagle on Par 5, No. 11, four birdies and a bogey, to card a 5-under-par leaving him with a second round 67. He was one stroke shy of a play-off for the section title.
Schuller responded to Schultz second day saying, “Some days you win and some days you lose, it’s all a part of the game.” Schuller applauded Schultz on his win and a spectacular second round.
Tim Lewis, PGA finished third overall and first for the Quarter Century Championship. This Championship is hosted for individuals who have been with the section for more than 25 years. Lewis made five birdies against two bogies his first day. Then he continued his momentum with a bogey-free round and made four birdies, to finish with a two-day total of 7-under-par.
